Housing Selection Support & Resources

Please check here for support, resources, and updates regarding the housing selection process. We will provide updates via email and update this page moving forward.

Housing Selection Dates & Times

Returning Student General Housing selection will begin on April 22, 2024, at 10:00AM and finish on May 3, 2024, at 5:00PM. Housing selection dates and times are based on two criteria: your rising class year and whether you submitted your housing contract by the priority or extended deadline If your housing contract was submitted after March 15, 2024, your contract was submitted after the priority deadline, and you will select at the extended deadline selection time with your rising class year.

You may begin selecting at your selection groups start time and may select anytime until Friday, May 3, 2024, at 5:00PM. Should you not select a housing assignment before the selection closes, you will be auto assigned to a space by Residence Life & Housing Staff and learn of your assignment over the summer months.

Priority vs. Extended Deadlines & Selection Groups

Your selection time is not only based on your rising class year but also when you submitted your housing contract. Priority vs Extended deadlines are based on the date you submitted your housing contract to your student accounts center. If this was submitted prior to March 15, 2024, you have met the priority deadline. Any submissions from March 15 鈥 April 19 have met the extended deadline.

If one or more鈥痯erson(s) in your group completed this contract late and is tagged as "Extended Deadline"- it will impact when your group is eligible to select a space (i.e. one to three days depending on situation.

How do I know which deadline group I am in?

You can view your status by either checking the self-service page (listed on the right screen of the roommate page) or you can view your 鈥淐onsent Date鈥 for the Housing Contract within the Student Account Center.

What if I have a mixed class year roommate group?

If everyone in your group met the priority deadline, your group would select at the earliest possible selection time (i.e. if you were a group of four with 1 rising senior and 3 rising sophomores- the system will allow for selection during the rising senior's selection time- even if the group leader is the rising sophomore).

If everyone in your group did not meet the priority deadline, your group wouldn't be able to select until the last possible selection time occurs (i.e.鈥痠f you were a group of two with 1 rising senior who met priority deadline and 1 rising鈥痵ophomore who did not- the system will not allow for selection until Rising Sophomores (extended deadline) select).

How can I confirm my rising class year?

Students informed us of rising class year through the application process- staff confirmed via an auditing process. Reach out to us with concerns.

Availability of Rooms Towards End of Selection

Due to increased occupancy demands and the uncertainty of actual numbers of new and transfer students, we anticipate that we will 鈥渞un out鈥 of allocated rooms for the returning student housing selection process. This does not mean you don't have a space for the Fall semester. Instead, it simply means the Housing Operations team needs more time to allocate appropriate beds from our housing stock from first year/transfer to returning students. If you are not able to select a room during selection but have signed a contract, here鈥檚 what you can expect:

  1. You will be placed in a 鈥淗all TBA鈥 room for billing charges for Fall 2024. This is a traditional room charge with a full meal plan charge as well.
  2. We will provide regular updates after June 1st regarding availability and timeline for selection and placement; we hope to be able to provide assignments on a rolling process beginning in the middle of June.

Housing Selection Zoom Help Desk

The Housing Selection Zoom Help Desk will be open during both weeks of selection to allow students to quickly connect with Residence Life & Housing staff should you have any questions during selection or experience any issues.

Some common items you may use the Help Desk for:鈥

  • Finding a roommate which matches your living characteristics.鈥
  • Technical issues with selecting housing (i.e. won't let you select a space).鈥
  • Issues related to Gender Inclusive Housing or Living Learning Communities.
  • Questions about specific residential communities.鈥
  • Any other questions about the Housing Selection Process.

We accidentally placed people in the wrong rooms in our unit. Can we fix that?鈥

Yes! Simply call the Help Desk after you have selected, and a member of the Housing Operations team will make the swap for you.鈥

We鈥痟ave a room in mind with people already assigned in the other double, can I see their living characteristics?鈥

You can either search for the student currently assigned to the space through the Roommate Matching Portal or visit the Help Desk to speak to a member of the Housing Operations team who will coach you through the process.鈥疨lease be mindful this creates a delay and may result in other students selecting the space.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What happens if we do not select a room by May 3rd?

Anyone who has either signed a housing contract or is required to live on-campus will be placed in a HALL TBA for billing purposes. We will be sending out additional information regarding the next steps in this process by Friday, May 10th.

  • There are no current fully open units that meet our group size, what should we do?

Do not delete your roommate requests- instead, have your GROUP LEADER search with roommate pairs in the portal. Simply click off the names of friends who want to live together and assign them accordingly. If you have issues with this process, please call the Help Desk.

  • I'm not seeing a unit that was here recently. Is it not there anymore?

The portal will show you rooms that are open- if it is not on the list, another group of students have selected that unit.

  • We selected a space that we really didn't want and are not happy with it. Is there a room change process?

Yes- when you return to campus in the Fall, please meet with your Area Coordinator or Graduate Community Director to discuss a room change and what options might be available at that time.

Wishing you the best of luck throughout the selection process, please reach out to the Help Desk if you have any questions or concerns!鈥
